Homemade Lasagna Recipe

Lasagna. Just mentioning this hearty layered Italian dish brings back memories of family gatherings. The magic begins from the moment you prepare the ingredients. It continues to the first warm, savory bite. Ingredients:   

Lasagna noodles  

1 lb hot sausage  

1 lb ground turkey   

2 Beef bouillon cubes  

1 onion minced  

4 cloves Garlic minced  

2 cans 28oz and 15oz can crushed tomatoes  

12 oz tomato paste (you might have to get 2 6oz cans)  

2/3 cup water  

3 tablespoons parsley 

1/4th cup fresh parsley 

2 teaspoons Basil 

Salt  

Pepper 

1 tablespoon sugar 

1 table spoon Italian seasoning  

1 lg egg beaten  

15 oz Ricotta Cheese  

4 cups Mozzarella cheese  

2 cups Parmesan cheese   

Instructions:  

  1. In a Dutch over cook sausage ground turkey and onion over medium heat until meat is cooked. Add garlic and let simmer a few minutes.  
  1. Stir in tomatoes, tomato paste, water, sugar, 3 tablespoons parsley, basil salt and pepper. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for about 30 minutes. Stirring occasionally.  
  1. While Sauce is simmering, cook the noodles according to package directions.  
  1. In a separate bowl mix egg ricotta and ¼ cup parsley and salt.  
  1. Pre heat oven to 375 degrees. Spread 2 cups sauce into an greased 13×9’ baking dish. Layer with 3 noodles and a third of the ricotta. Sprinkle with 1 cup mozzarella so it evenly covers the top and then cover with Parmesan cheese. 
  1. Repeat layers twice until the lasagna reaches the top of the baking dish. Top with remaining meat sauce and cheeses.  
  1. Bake uncovered for 25 minutes, remove the cover and cook for another 25 minutes longer or until bubbly. Let sit for 10 min before serving  
  1. Top with extra parsley and Parmesan if desired
